Rising Up to the Challenge
Life does not always go according to our plans. There are seasons when we face difficulties, disappointments, pressure, uncertainty, and situations that seem too difficult to overcome. But as children of God, we are not called to remain down because of our circumstances. “We are called to rise up”. The Bible reminds us in Isaiah 60: 1:
“Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.”
God is calling us to arise. God does not want challenging circumstances to determine our future. Difficult times may come, but they do not have the final word. God is still with us, still working, and still leading us.
1. Rise Up Because God Is With You
When challenges come, we can easily become afraid. We may ask, “How am I going to get through this?” But God tells us that we do not have to face our battles alone. Deuteronomy 31:8 states:
“And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.”
What a powerful promise! God goes before us. He is not waiting for us at the end of the battle; He is already ahead of us.
When we do not know what tomorrow will bring, we have to remember that God already knows tomorrow.
2. Do Not Give Up When Things Become Difficult
Sometimes we become discouraged because we expect everything to happen quickly. But God's timing is not always our timing. Galatians 6:9 reminds us:
“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”
The verse tells us not to become weary and not to give up. At Agape Institute, there may be moments when studying becomes difficult, assignments become challenging, or you may feel that you are not progressing as quickly as you hoped. Do not quit.
Your difficult season can become a season of growth.
3. Remember That God Gives Strength to the Weak
There are times when we feel that our own strength is not enough. That is exactly when we need to depend on God. Isaiah 40: 31says:
“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles.”
Notice the words "renew their strength." God can give you strength when your strength is gone. He can give you courage when you are afraid. He can give you hope when you feel discouraged. You may feel weak, but God is not weak.
4. Challenges Can Develop a Character
We often want God to remove every difficult situation. But sometimes God uses difficult situations to develop something inside us.
James 1:2–4 teaches us that trials can produce patience and maturity. Challenges can teach us how to pray more deeply, trust God more completely, and depend less on ourselves. The storm may not be comfortable, but God can use the storm to make us stronger.
Think about a seed. Before it becomes a strong plant, it must go through a process underground. We may not see what is happening, but growth is taking place.
God may be working in your life even when you cannot see it.
5. Keep Your Eyes on Jesus
When Peter walked on the water, he was able to walk while his eyes were on Jesus. But when he focused on the wind and the waves, he became afraid. Matthew 14:30 says:
“But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.”
Peter cried, ‘Lord, save me!’ And Jesus immediately reached out His hand. There will be storms in life, but we must not allow the storm to become bigger than our God. Keep your eyes on Jesus.
6. Rise Up With Faith
Faith does not mean that we will never have problems. Faith means that even in our problems, we trust that God is with us. Romans 8:28 states :
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God.”
You may not understand everything God is doing today. You may not understand why certain doors closed or why certain challenges came into your life.
But you can still say:
“I trust God.
It is my prayer that the students and members of “Agape Institute “ do not allow challenging times to define you.
If you fall, get back up.
If you become discouraged, pray again.
If you become tired, wait upon the Lord.
If you do not know the way, trust Jesus.
If you cannot see what God is doing, keep believing.
God has not brought you this far to abandon you.
Micah 7: 8 says:
“Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise.”
That should be our declaration:
When I fall, I shall “arise.”
When I am weak, God will strengthen me.
When I face challenges, God will be with me.
When I cannot see the way, I will trust Jesus.
And most importantly:
“I will rise up because God has called me to shine.”
May Agape Institute be a place where students do not run away from challenges, but learn to face them with faith, courage, perseverance, and through the love of Christ.
Arise. Keep going. Keep believing. Keep trusting God.
Your challenging season is not the end of your story.
God is still writing your story.
